Please join PedBikeTrans, Bicycle Queensland, GWhiz, FoodConnect and Qld College of Art for International PARK(ing) Day at Little Stanley Street, South Bank.
The event, including a PBT "ideas market", which will be located on Little Stanley Street, South Bank (near Tribune Street) on Friday 19th September from 7am - 2pm. People are welcome to drop in anytime and enjoy breakfast, lunch, fruit, coffee or just a chat.
PARK(ing) Day will be a practical demonstration of just how quickly we can transform parking spaces into lively and exciting spaces for people. Enjoy some new grassy parks, free valet bicycle parking from Bicycle Queensland, pay-as-you-drive community car share by GWhiz and 'fresh from the farm' local and organic fruit and vegetables from FoodConnect. Other parking spaces along Little Stanley Street will be turned into exciting design studios by Queensland College of Arts students, featuring "Sustainable futures in design".
PedBikeTrans (The Pedestrian and Bicycle Institute of Australia) will use the former car parks to showcase their ideas to transform Brisbane's transport system and public spaces. The ideas were generated at their very successful 2020 Ideas Summit in April. Now PedBikeTrans invite people, young and old, to give their own ideas on how to rapidly transform Brisbane into a world class city.
South Bank continues to be an important area for Brisbane's placemaking, urban renewal, public realm, and community and cultural life.
Brisbane PARK(ing) thanks the support from South Bank Corporation. (especially the Events Management section).
