Related Events: QUT School of Design "Food, Country & Design" FREE (July to October)

The QUT School of Design invites you to attend its weekly public lecture series, this year held in conjunction with the State Library of Queensland. The lecture series brings together two speakers per week, one local, the other interstate, from the core disciplines of the school (industrial design. landscape architecture, architecture, and interior design), but will this year also include other creative folk including fashion designers, consultation consultants and sound designers.

Speakers are asked to discuss their work in terms of the ideas that run through it, together with the SLQ curatorial framework of “Food, Country & Design”.

PARK(ing) Day started in 2005 as a temporary art project to raise awareness about the lack of green spaces in San Francisco’s downtown. It’s based on the idea that feeding a parking meter is like “renting” a space. But instead of parking car, why not park something better! Every September, people around the world are now transforming ‘car parks’ to ‘people parks’. These PARKs are fun and visual symbols of communities wanting to improve urban quality.
