PARK: City Retreat (Group 16), UQ

The installation aims to show how much space cars consume in relation to how few people they can transport. It is a glimpse into a car free future - a healthier city overwhelmed by green space.

PARK(ing) Day started in 2005 as a temporary art project to raise awareness about the lack of green spaces in San Francisco’s downtown. It’s based on the idea that feeding a parking meter is like “renting” a space. But instead of parking car, why not park something better! Every September, people around the world are now transforming ‘car parks’ to ‘people parks’. These PARKs are fun and visual symbols of communities wanting to improve urban quality.

3) Creating diverse conversations about how we make sustainable cities.
